Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Another indicator that receiving the Holy Spirit and being filled (or baptized) with the Holy Spirit are two different events.
Acts 2:11-13 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God."
12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "Whatever could this mean?"
13 Others mocking said, "They are full of new wine."
This reminds me of what we see today. Although some people see the amazing things God has done in changing people, we still have those that will say they "got all religious" in a mocking fashion, which is typically followed up with the rolling of eyes and a chuckle. None the less, there are those few that give their life to Jesus, fullfilled verse 21:
Acts 2:21 AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS THAT WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.'
Just as we have discussed before; John The Baptist preached repentance and Jesus didn't waste any time preaching repentance, take a look how Peter starts his ministry:
First he reminds them that they killed Jesus, look at verse36:
Acts 2:36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ."
Second:
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Third, he makes sure everyone knows that this gift is all inclusive and is entirely a work of God:
Acts 2:39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."
Fourth, he pleades with an urgency that only one that is born-again can do:
Act 2:40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation."
and what happened:
Act 2:46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
Act 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
